The Moving Adventure

Technically I am all moved into my dads!

My dad and his girlfriend Karen came down to my apartment in Wilmington last Wednesday night (waaay past my dads bed time) to help me pack and move. They were supposed to come down Thursday night but because of impending storms they decided to come a day early...which forced me to try to clean my whole apartment with like 5 hours notice because I left it all to the last minute, of course. It was still pretty disastrous when they arrived but they were polite about it.

Thursday and Friday we packed and ate. They helped a lot which was awesome because I definitely couldn't have done it all by myself.

Saturday we got to pick up the truck. We ordered a 17' truck and instead got a 26' one. There were some positives and negatives to getting a truck that was waay too big. We started loading up the truck with boxes and stuff but couldn't do a lot because my dad wanted the matresses the furthest back and we needed to sleep on them that night.

Karen actually said "We can sleep on the floor - it doesn't matter" Now, for anyone who knows any of my dad's other girlfriends you can imagine how impresssed I was by this statement. Not only was Karen helping with my move (which obviously she doesn't have to) but she was sick too! I like Karen. She's a keeper.

I traded my sofa and chairs (which I was going to throw out anyway) to some friends of mine that are male with muscles for help moving the big heavy stuff. That worked out well. I also donated a bunch of stuff (wasing machine, dresser, nightstand, tv stand from my bedroom) that I wasn't going to keep, and that worked out easily also. It's a good thing I got rid of so much stuff too...becuase my dad's house is PACKED right now.

On Sunday we finished packing and left (my dad and Karen 3 hours before me becuase I had to stay and clean) and drove to MD to stay the night (not the same places in MD but we both decided to stop there).

I arrived back at my dads around 3:30 yesterday with my dog. I made the best time that I ever had on the trip this time! I beat my own personal record! My dad got back around 6ish and he went to drop off Karen and her house....and the truck ran out of gas her in driveway! He says the gauge lied to him... So they went and put more gas in it and he got back here around 630. I had 4 friends come over and help move and we had it all unloaded in about 1.5 hours. We ate pizza after and hung out for a minute then everyone had to go home and go to bed because they have real jobs to get to in the morning!

As of right now everything I own in is pretty much jammed into my dads empty dining room and I need to unpack and organize a TON! I also need to go rescue my cats from my mom's powerless house (she's had no power since Thursday) but I'm afraid they may get lost in the disaster. I haven't yet had time to make a space for them. Phillip loves it. There is stuff everywhere and waaaay more people than he's use to. He's happily sleeping by my feet.

Must go unpack now...

My Weekend...

was 6 days long this week! yay! Now, I know that may sound like a vacation not a long weekend to some...but since my usual weekend is 4 days long...I think 6 days qualifies as a long weekend. Its seriously going to suck once I have to reenter the work force soon.

I had one class on Monday and then its been free time ever since. I had a lot on my to-do list though (with the impending move and graduation), and most has been accomplished (or I've scheduled time for it to be done tomarrow...I'm a procrastinator, what can I say?).

First I would like to say I've seen Twilight 3 times and still love it SO MUCH! Woohoo for it making 70 million opening weekend! Can't wait to see what it does for this holiday weekend. And I still love Jasper. I'm probably going to see it again next weekend...and then again once I move home. I <3 twilight

I'm dog sitting for my friend Meg. Her dog, Molly, is my dog's bestest friend. They have lots-o-fun together. And it makes you want to scream. There is SO MUCH barking and running and growling and knocking into your legs...it could potentially put someone (a lesser someone than I of course) in the nut house.

She's been here since Tuesday so they have settled down some by now. Except after they poop, they ALWAYS have to play, and go crazy. My dog also has some serious possession issues so feeding them turns into a 20 minute process when normally its about a 2. The first couple nights Molly and I got into some arguments involving sleeping arrangements, but we have them mostly worked out by now. I've never seen a dog take up so much space on a bed...its ridiculous. Maybe she just seems so big since my dog curls up into the smallest little ball when he sleeps, I dunno.

The whole thing makes me happy I only have one dog. However its going to be very sad when I move becuase Phillip will be so lonely, as I'm sure Molly will too. (don't you love how both our dogs have people names?)

This weekend I also thought about doing some homework. I made a 1/2 a webpage. That seemed good enough.

I did, however, catch up on some extremely corny, made-for-tv christmas movies! I love this time of year for all the un-godly reasons! I believe, whole heartedly, in commercial christmas! I love the lights, the cheesy movies, the songs, the shopping, and the presents!

I dvr'd a bunch of christmas movies from abc family (how can you go wrong?) and they all seemed to have a centralized theme...christmas and crime. I'm not so sure how these 2 things seemed to get linked but did they ever. I watched a movie with Melissa Joan Hart and Mario Lopez where she kidnaps him on christmas to pose as her boyfriend, another with Shannen Doherty who was a theif, and yet another one with Tony Danza who was also a theif! I guess Christmas + Crime + popular 90's actor who is no longer famous = Feel Good Christmas Movie!

On a side note, I also watched Fred Claus (that just came out on DVD) and it was really cute and funny. I liked it a lot.

I've also been reading a lot this weekend. I just read Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I don't really understand how I've made it this far in life without reading it but I had. It was really good, and short which is always awesome.

I also read what there is of Midnight Sun. What is that? well...Stephanie Meyer, the author of the twilight series, had a rough draft of what would have been the 5th book of the twilight series leaked onto the web unfinished. This book (Midnight Sun)told the same story as twilight, but from Edward (the vampire's) perspective. This discouraged her so much that she stopped writing it and just posted it on her website, instead of having people go all over trying to read it. She has said she isnt going to finish it now because of the leak. That is really unforunate becuase what she has is amazing and I loved it. It was only about 250 pages but amazing just the same. And since you already know what happens in the end its not AS horrible that there is no ending.

Reading Midnight Sun and seeing the movie made me want to read Twilight again...so I did. In like a day. Turkey day actually.

And now I'm on to Eragon which Meg has been trying to get me to read for months. I'm only like 200 pages in but it is actually pretty good...you were right Meg...

I go on spurts with my reading and I've hit another one. The only problem is that once I start reading something, I don't want to do anything else until I'm finished. It's all consuming.

Finally, I actually did some packing and cleaning...today. I spent Tuesday through Friday doing nothing and being a bum and finally got productive on the 5th day. Better than nothing I guess.

I packed 8 boxes of clothes and books, and 3 garbage bags of hangers. I also got 4 bags of clothes ready to give to good will, which are already in my car ready to go. I threw away about 12 bages of shit, including 3 bags of paper-shredded stuff. I have been putting off my shredding for probably about 2 years, and I finally did it all today, while watching my Tony Danza Christmas movie. I cleaned out the closet that formerly held the litter boxes. That is an hour long process just to get all the litter out of the carpet. That closet is SPOTLESS and closed up so no more animals can get in and make messes. I also did like 6 loads of laundry. I feel quite accomplised, and my back hurts from all the work...damn rollerblades...

I move 2 weeks from tomarrow. My last class is on Wednesday, with my last final being Friday the 12th. I have 2 presentations PLUS 2 finals and a final paper (and Im only taking 3 classes...where does all this work come from?!) My dad and Karen fly in on the 11th. Its going to be a crazy couple weeks coming up...

Twilight

My movie finally came out!!

I am totally one of those crazy fan girls that you saw all over the TV this weekend going insane for Twilight. I went to the midnight showing on Thursday night with my 2 friends Megan and Michelle. We all wore matching Team Edward shirts and acted like excited school girls. It was great. I went to go see it again Friday night (sans the Team Edward shirt) because I love Twilight just that much.

The movie made $35 million just on Friday and the professional money guessers are saying it may top $70 million opening weekend. The sequel was greenlit by Summit entertainment today. All of this is great since I LOVE TWILIGHT.

The books are, of course, way more magnificent than the movie, but the movie held its own, I thought. It was directed by Catherine Hardwicke who also did Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown. Both indie films (amazing ones btw) and she made Twilight have that feel also. The beginning especially had that 'this is a low budget indie movie' feel but the some of the stunt work held up to the bigger Hollywood blockbuster bar.

For me, Jasper, one of the vampires, stole the movie. He had few lines and not too much screen time, but he was EXACTLY what you picture when you read the book. The actor, Jackson Rathbone, did an amazing job bringing the character to life and staying true to the book. He is easily my new favorite vampire.

I think the way they did promotion for this movie was tricky. The book, and now the movie, at it's core, is a love story. The previews made sure you knew that it was about vampires and fighting, not so much the love story. And the love story is what the movie was for about a hour and a half. The last half hour was easily the best part of the movie and had the most action, but I can see many movie goers (especially boys) being seriously annoyed by then that they got tricked into this movie. Hence, I believe that is why there are somewhat negative reviews so far.

Then there are the die hard fan girls. They are all mad because its not an exact replication of the book. Those people annoy ME to no end. You can't fit a 600 page book into a 2 hour movie. You just can't. Things have to be edited to save time and tell the story. They had to know it was going to happen. Maybe it doesn't bother me that everything wasn't in the movie because I have a horrible memory and don't remember all the details of the book. Either way, get over it evil pre-teens.

I've been watching all the press that the actors have been doing for the last week for the movie and I have to say, Never in my life have I seen 2 lead actors so awkward in front of the camera! Both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are awkward and antsy when they do interviews. They don't look at the camera half the time, they play with their hair, hide their faces and act ultimately uncomfortable. Its so strange. The rest of the cast does fine, but those 2 are just so weird.

Well, Twilight is corny and silly and I LOVE IT. I'm fascinated by the vampires, love the story and now, Jackson Rathbone. Everyone should read the book and then go see the movie. In that order because otherwise I'm not so sure you would like the movie at all.

Twilight kicks Harry Potters ASS.

Redo

I redid my blog for Christmas!

Since I can't decorate this year because of the move I am incorporating everything Christmasy that I can into my life. Early.

I added new pix of my fam (aka me and my pets)

I shortened my recently watched movies (it was getting seriously obnoxious)

I wrote 2 new posts! (all for you Marnie, just becuase you asked)

And its only 2:26am!

...this is how I accidentally stay up too late

The Losing Battle with my DVR

I watch too much TV. But I pride (is it pride?) myself on the fact that I watch TV with a PURPOSE. I don't just flip through channels and watch whatever is on. I have a bunch of shows that I watch but that's it. If its not on my DVR I don't watch it. If my DVR is empty I watch a DVD from my long list of 'to-watch' DVD's.

But I'm afraid that my DVR is winning the battle. At one point in October I got distracted from my TV somehow (WHAT?! How could I?!) and my DVR got up to like 80% full which is NOT OK with me. I also have a DVR in my bedroom (oh its that bad) to catch the overflow from when more than 2 shows are on at one time. Back in October that DVR was stuck at like 20%. I kept watching but they just kept recording and it seemed like a losing battle. That's when I realized my DVR was winning.

Then one weekend it all changed. I stayed in and just WATCHED. I conquered the DVR. This may not be as exciting as climbing a mountain or skydiving but its an accomplishment damn it! and I'm proud. All the DVR's were down to zero!! And I kept up with it. I watched everything that recorded the night it recorded or the next morning. That in itself is a feat because on Monday nights (my worst night of recordings) I record 9.5 hours of TV.

Then I went away for a long weekend. I went to my moms and tried to stay caught up while I was there. I stay up A LOT later than everyone I know in NY (my regular bed time is about 3am) so I watched while they slept but it was too hard. I had too much other stuff to do and I fell behind. Now I'm back home and have stuff from almost a week ago on my DVR and they are at a combined amount of over 40%. Defeat.

But worry not, Thanksgiving weekend is coming. I have no class, I have no where to go, and most of my friends are out of town. I am babysitting my friend's dog so there will be lots of time with me hiding in my room with the door closed from the 2 wild animals in the family room. I will conquer the DVR again. Oh yea, and I have to pack. Who's helping with that?!

And if this post saddens you with how easy my life is, that my overflowing DVR is the epitome of my problems, just insert a different activity every time I wrote TV or DVR. Like brain surgery. "I do too many brain surgeries. No matter how many I do they just keep piling up." There, that sounds much more accomplished.

The Ultimate Consumer

I am aware we are in an economic crisis.

I am aware I am unemployed.

I am aware I am living off of credit card debt.

But I can't stop buying stuff. At thats all it is. STUFF. I am the ultimate consumer and I can't stop myself. I love it. DVD's (you have no idea how many), clothes, eating out, getting my nails done. I love it all. I'm already in an enormous amount of debt which I have come to grips with. My deal with myself is that when I move in with my dad I will stop all the stuff buying and pay off my debt since I will be getting rid of most of my other bills. I like the deal although I suspect in a month I will not be so happy about it.

Now I really don't have a problem with my shopping but my mom makes me feel like I'm an alcoholic or something. Its so sad. I'm not a worrier (is that how you spell it? Definition: not one who worries) at all. Never have been, I just kind of shrug it off. It will all work out. Whatever. But my mom has the ability to make me feel like I'm doing something horrible.

I was at her house over the weekend and I said something about buying clothes for an interview and she said "With what?!" and I made the credit card swiping action with my hand. She made a face. Then we were talking about Rock Band 2 and I was saying I wanted another guitar for Christmas (something easy for her BF to get me) but the guitar didnt come out until a few days before Christmas. And she said "what about the game itself?" I made the swiping action. (already have it preordered) And she was revolted. Its my issue. I'm not worried why should she be?! And don't say "shes your mom thats what she does"...I'll kill you.

Anyway, I sort of went off on a tangent there. My original thought was to say how much I like shopping, debt or no debt, and do you SEE how many sales are out there right now? Thank-you down-turned economy! Most of my favorite stores have been having 'buy one get one half off' sales on clothes for the last month! Its AMAZING. I went to NY & Co. (good for dress up clothes) the other day and saved as much as I spent thanks to sales and coupons! (yes, I used a COUPON. that is a step for me)

I like buying stuff. But those days are soon coming to a close. Soon I will be making lists on here about what stuff I want to buy but can't have. Sad face.

5 Movies and Some Hockey Games

That was my weekend. Unemployment is AWESOME.

Thursday: (the start of my weekend)
Max Payne: not so good
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: midnight showing. Freakin AMAZING. I am such a nerd.

Friday:
Quarantine: ehh ok
The Secret Life of Bees: Really good movie especially if you read the book. It didn't deviate too much. Good story, good acting.

Saturday:
UNCW's (my school) hockey game. Normally I would not go to anything like it (actually this was my first ever UNCW sporting event even though we supposedly have a pretty good basketball team) but my friends kidnapped me and forced me to go. They are big hockey fans (who knew since I'm not so much in the big hockey area). It was actually pretty cool. I like how they beat the crap out of eachother on the ice.
Saw V: almost as bad as you would expect it to be.

Sunday:
My friend Chad's hockey game. They have been begging me to go for almost 2 years and I finally decided to go since I really don't have anything better to do. It was fun. A bunch of my friends went and we all got food after. Hockey part not so exciting but oh well.

Its amazing how much your social life heats up when you stop working. All my friends force me to go out with them since they know I have no excuse anymore. All in all it was a good weekend! Too bad I have a ton of school work to do now :(

Stop Those Shenanigans

My Aunt Margot recently requested that everyone start writing in their blogs more. I said 'okay' and then waited a week or so to comply but LOOK at the progress I have made tonight. Below are 3 more blogs all freshly written. Since there may be another drought a-comin' you may want to read them slowly. Maybe space them out a few days in between reads.

So not only has my aunt been feeling abandoned but also the TV shows that I watch. I haven't written about them in weeks! I feel ashamed to say this, but I am overwhelmed by how many shows I am attempting to watch this season. The damn writers strike got my schedule all messed up last season and I started watching a bunch of new shows to fill in the void. Now they are all back and I just can't keep up! My DVR is at an annoying 50% full ALL THE TIME. Now to many this may not seem like a big deal but one thing that drives me crazy is a full DVR. And no matter how hard I try to watch and watch every time I go back its back at 50%! I'm just gunna keep chugging along and watching and hope I can beat it some day, preferably before I move and have to give it back to Time Warner Cable (evil entertainment conglomerate that they are).

So a review of my shows is definitely needed. As I sit and watch Pushing Daisies I realize I can not possible write about all my shows so I will keep it to the ones that had memorable quotes this week (or last) that made me laugh.

"If you thought that was long you have no idea what you're in for" - Chuck Bass, Gossip Girl.
I absolutely LOVE him. His character makes the show for me. I don't care who he is seducing or destroying he does it with style and grace and it's absolutely amazing. I also like the friendship blossoming between Dan and Nate and think they are both adorable as well. I could do without the Jenny story line but every show has it's downfall. Overall it's an A.

"He's like the fuckin' witness whisperer." -Deb, Dexter
For anyone who hasn't seen this show they really need to go out and rent the 1st season on DVD. It's so good and the critics seem to love it also! I don't want to give away too much from this season since I doubt anyone has Showtime and watches it but everyone should! Dexter is a serial killer with a moral code who works for the cops. Michael C Hall does an amazing job with the character and the whole show is a joy.

"A man should know never to grab another man's cape." Nathan Scott, One Tree Hill
"Apparently you have everything backwards, so come on in." Brooke Davis, OTH
Everyone knows OTH has my heart but in the last couple episodes they were killing me. bad. But they redeemed themselves this week by ditching some bad story lines and giving the characters some decent material. PLUS Dawson (from Dawson's Creek) is going to be on the show which is awesome! I hear he's in town this month it would be so cool to see him!

"High Five Turtle." Matt Parkman, Heroes
Every time I see the show I am a little more confused about what is going on. But I read other blogs about it and figure it out later. Still like show but they really gotta work on being a littttle more specific. Kristen Bell will be back next week which makes everything OK.

"Stop being such an Indian Giver!" Gio, Ugly Betty
I miss him! I want a campaign to bring Freddy Rodriguez back to Ugly Betty! He makes the show better every time hes on! And thank you for the throw back to the term Indian Giver! When was the last time you said that? 4th grade? I think it's makin a comeback.

"Was I humming? I thought that was in my head!" Walter Bishop, Fringe
He is one of the best new characters on TV this season! I love him! The show is awesome with good stories, and great mysteries (just like JJ always does) and the characters rock. Possibly the best new show this season.

I would also like to mention that not 1 but 2 different shows incorporated MMMBop into their programs this week. Chuck and House. Thank you for that, you have no idea how happy that made me.

Lastly, I would like to mention one of my favorite shows this season is getting dramatically close to being cancelled, Life on NBC. It's in it's 2nd season but the 1st was cut short due to the strike. Damien Lewis plays the main character, a cop who was put in jail for like 10 years for a crime he didn't commit. He was exonerated and has now returned to being a cop. He loves fruit and the zen.
It's quirky and funny. It makes my Fridays happy.

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Okay, so that one is TECHNICALLY relevant. And if you read these posts from the top to bottom that doesn't make sense anyway so really I am writing to myself.

I carved a pumpkin! Actually I carved 2 but I don't have a picture of the lst one. It was a ghost ship and you could TOTALLY tell what it was. I did it while I was home at Tatum's and at least 6 people saw it and recognized what it was without me telling them. Which is freakin amazing. So Tatum or Ashley, who randomly read my blog, please feel free to make a comment in the comment section about how good it was so everyone else knows I'm not lying. Thank you.

And on to my 2nd pumpkin creation.

IT'S JENSEN AND JARED!!! (from Supernatural!) It looks better in person, and if you actually know what they look like. Still pretty awesome considering ITS A PUMPKIN.

I'm thinking about becoming an artist. My masterpiece has already been swarmed by fruit flies which makes me really sad so I am thinking about doing a recreation right before Halloween so I can light it for the holiday, but we'll see.

Also, my friend Meg got a butt shaped pumpkin and then carved hands grabbing the ass. She is so proud.

High Five Turtle!

Thank you Greg Grunberg aka Matt Parkman on Heroes for today's title.

I got my newest tattoo! Technically it was a month ago now, but I was lagging on the blog writing and have finally decided to catch up. ALL IN ONE NIGHT. I'm in a sharing mood.

Back to the tattoo. I got it on my wrist and its kinda like the design I posted but it had to be simplified in order to fit on my wrist. Here it is!

I like it. The star gets bigger and smaller and bigger and smaller when i move my wrist around and that amuses me. Sadly.

And to address one of the comments on my earlier blog post on my tattoo...

No Marnie, I would NOT like to get the NBC peacock on my wrist instead. I don't even really like that station. Much rather the CW logo thank-you-very-much.

Anywho, that's the tat. Me Likey. OH YEA. I went with my friend Megan to get the tattoo and she got one of her foot. It was her first tattoo and she was real nervous. She made it all the way through the tattoo just fine and then FREAKED OUT after it was all done and he was putting the bandage on it. She turned all white and got cold sweats and thought she was gunna throw up. Strangest thing I've ever seen. And funny. Since she's OK now.

Who Bob What Pants?

I've decided to start making the titles of my blog completely irrelevant because that just seems like more fun...for me. This one is thanks to a sponge bob movie that came out a couple weeks ago that made me giggle. (the title, not the movie since I have not watched it) and speaking of work...

I quit my job! (yayy, woooo from the crowd)

I have a tendency (who doesn't really?) to quit jobs in an angry rage, which is sort of what I did here. I have had more shitty part time jobs than most people I know and I think it has made me a more colorful person. And also speaks to my fear of commitment to anything (or anyone for that matter).

This wasn't so much an angry rage as a few bitchy comments and leaving (in the middle of my Saturday night shift) and never going back. As of last night my manager still thought I was coming back and hadn't covered my shifts. Which goes to show what a moron he is. He was (technically still is) a stupid little tool who I have hated since I met him about 6ish months ago. I did like my job when I didn't have to see him but unfortunately he didn't get the hint and scheduled us together all the time. And I have temper, a problem with all authority, and REFUSE to ever apologize. to anyone.

So now I am unemployed (yay!) and still have a little less than 2 months living in NC. Which isn't enough time to get another job (right? right.) so I'm just gunna hang out. It should be fun. I'm pumped.

Cold weather

It's finally cooling down in Wilmington! Normally this would not make me happy at all, however in this town it makes me SO EXCITED. I realize that it is probably just a storm and it will be hot as balls again by the end of the week but I am enjoying it for now. I have on slippers and a long sleeved shirt (becuase I left my door open all day to let in the coldness) and I am loving it! It's amazing after spending 2 years in heat how much I enjoy the cold when it is here. I went for a walk with my puppy today and it was so nice to actually put on a sweatshirt to go outside. I loved it. But about 3 weeks ago I was home for a long weekend where it was freezing and I was MISERABLE. It was probably the same temp then as it is here now but my reaction to it was so different. Funny how depending on where you are how much temperature differences effect your mood. Well, I am going to enjoy my coldness for as long as it wants to stay here...and then be super unhappy when I move back to NY and freeze. I should just retire already so I can go up north in the summer and down south in the winter!

I'm here to help

I write a lot about TV shows. This is because I am pretty much a hermit and if I don't have to leave my apartment, I won't. I have found friends in NC who are much like me and are perfectly happy sitting around and watching TV with all of our free time. And luckily, they live 2 buildings down...so I do not even have to get into my car to see them. Oh yea, and our dogs are BFF's.

So I write about these shows that I think are AMAZING.

In my last blog my cousins Elyssa and Kacey commented that they didn't watch any of the shows that I do, which makes sense since some of them are silly and most aimed at teenagers (which I like to pretend I still am) but more disturbingly Kacey said SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHO ANY OF THE HOT GUYS I MENTIONED WERE. I have a feeling most of my blog readers (i think there may be 3 or 4) do not know who they are either.

The aim of this blog then, dear Kacey, is to familiarize you with said HOT GUYS. (feel free to show them to Brett so he too can admire their beauty.)

Up 1st is my current obsession Jensen Ackles. He is on Supernatural right now which I think is ridiculously amazing. He has also been on Smallville (season 4), Dark Angel (season 2), Dawson's Creek(not as a regular) and Days of our Lives. He may be the prettiest boy I have ever seen.

I give you another picture in case you did not grasp the cuteness the 1st time.

This is Jensen (right) with his costar Jared Padalecki(left). Jared was in Gilmore Girls and the movie House of Wax. And yes, I am like a boy crazy school girl and Jensen could probably get a restraining order. I am self aware of my craziness. OH YEA and he is 30 so you don't have to feel like a perv checking him out.

Next on my list from my previous post was Joshua Jackson. I feel like you should know who he is. His filmography is much longer so I won't try to list out the whole thing but he was Pacey Witter on Dawson's Creek, he was in the Mighty Ducks movies, and Skulls and his most recent movie was Shutter. He just started a new show that premiered this fall on Fox called Fringe, which is by the guy who did Lost. It's weird, but I think i like it.

Next on the list was Chace Crawford (left). He is on Gossip Girl, I'm not sure if he has done much before that. He is boyishly handsome, and is kinda young. I think younger than me.

Lastly for tonight is Dustin Milligan(right). He is currently on the new 90210 and last year he was on a cancelled show, Runaway. Also young, also cute.

I hope this helps clarify the HOT GUYS. There may be more to come...

Procrastination

Lets start at the beginning...

I moved to North Carolina in August of '06. I got a 3 bedroom, 1200 sq ft apartment with a laundry room. All for myself. The original intention was that Ashley was going to move down in a year and go to school at UNCW with me. She even went so far as to be accepted but decided against it for whatever her reason. So I had a 3 bedroom apartment and needed roommates because although my dad was giving me money it would be impossible to live on it without help with the rent.

First came Savannah. She moved in September of '06. Her sister lived in the apartment across the breezeway from mine and she was living with her for a couple weeks until she could find her own place, because like me, she had just moved down here. She was 2 years younger than I and in school. She and I got along pretty well so I decided 'what the hell' and let her move in. Unfortunately, among other issues, she had a boyfriend who didn't have a car and was ALWAYS with her. So essentially I got 2 new roommates with her.

Then came Tony. He was a friend from NY who just wanted a change in venue so i said "sure, come on down." I didn't know him that well but our best friends had dated so we had hung out a couple times and got along pretty well. He moved in October '06 with a cat, Smokie.

At this time I only had 2 cats of my own, Coley and Bella. At the complex I am at you are allowed 2 pets, so we were already over the limit when Tony came but didn't really worry about it because who really notices the differences between 2 cats and 3??

Then Tony got another cat, Little, shortly after he moved in because he and I should NEVER be allowed to go into a petsmart together. There is no self control.

So Tony, Savannah and I lived together with 4 cats (Savannah did bring home a dog one time but that lasted about a week before we made her get rid of it because she didn't have enough time to take care of it and Tony and I didn't want to) until December when a disagreement between Savannah and I ended up with her moving out...at my request.

Then I got Phillip (my dog) around April '07. With this event came the permanent baby gate that separates my apartment, to this day, into "cat zone" (the bedrooms) and "dog zone" (the family room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room).

Then around May '07 Tony's best friend Zack, also from NY, moved down to live with us. He came with no pets, which was nice, except all 3 of us made the mistake of going into Petsmart together and came back with another cat, Princeton.

At this point I lived with 2 boys, 5 cats and 1 dog.

This arrangement didn't last too long before Tony and Zack realized that they did not and could not make enough money to live on their own and moved back to NY, ultimately into their parents homes, in October '07.

To this day I live by myself, my 2 cats and my dog. And that's the way I like. I need my space. I like things my way. It's just easier for everyone.

So what does this whole story have to do with procrastination??

CLEANING.

Throughout all of my many roommates the apartment has become a disaster. Work orders for repairs that needed to be done have been dismissed because of too many pets to hide from apartment complex employees. Things have been stained, broken, ripped up, etc. by pets and people. And now I am moving out in less than 3 months and I realize that if I want to be able to not pay a ton of money in repairs I need to start getting my act together now.

First comes the immediate problem which has been created by myself and my pets only, MESS.

My name is Gillian and I am an extremely dirty person.

Not my actual body, I myself shower regularly and only wear clean clothes but my apartment is....disgusting. I am not a good cleaner. The build-up of disaster does not bother me. Never has.

I am going home for Fall Vacation from school, leaving October 1st. My dog is staying at my friend Megan's and the cats will stay here alone with someone to check on them a couple times. With the absence of myself and my dog, my goal is to have a list of things that need to be legitimately repaired by the apartment complex given to them and have them fix it while I am gone. Because if they fix them now, they can't charge me for it later. These things are all things that they should fix but I am afraid that if I move out without telling them prior I will get charged because its all stuff I should have told them about to fix in a timely manner. (did you get all that? the logic is a little roundabout but I understood it) I will pretend that it all just happened and hasn't been building up for years. But for this plan to work I need to have my apartment acceptably clean before I leave, which it is far from. Maybe I will take 'before' and 'after' pictures and post them once it is clean so you can get the full extent of how dirty I truly am.

So right now I need to organize, vacuum, dust, scrub, just plain CLEAN so that fix-it men can come in and fix my variety of problems including leaking sinks, toilets and windows, water stains on the ceiling, lights fixtures falling out, screens with holes in them, paint chipping off the tub (are you supposed to paint tubs??) and more.

Once that phase of the cleaning plan is complete then comes the fixing of stuff that's MY fault. And by MY, I mean Phillip, Bella, Coley, Tony, Zack, Smokie, Little, Princeton, Savannah and myself.

This includes more stuff than I care to type out because then I may actually realize the enormity of the task at hand here.

But not to get too far ahead of myself, right now I am really procrastinating against the cleaning of the mess. The rest of the story was just may was of procrastinating. And now that it is told I will go clean...oh wait? is that my phone ringing? "wanna come hang out?" Guess the cleaning will be left for later...

I'm not sure if I've mentioned...

BUT I'M SUPER PSYCHED THAT FALL TV IS FINALLY HERE.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knew my position on the upcoming TV season.

TOTALLY PSYCHED.

Supernatural is back which might be favorite show this season and I might pee my pants from excitement.

I really think that I might have missed my calling in life...I think I would have been much better suited to be a TV show reviewer/blogger. Not someone who writes ACTUAL TV shows. Nope. Just someone who writes ABOUT the TV shows, including reviews, spoilers, actor interviews. I would be AMAZING at it. I already watch a TON of shows, not that I am a very good writer, but I would be SO good at interviewing hot actors, such as Jensen Ackles, Josh Jackson, Chace Crawford, Dustin Milligan...

Definitely picked the wrong profession to try to get into.

My Favorite TV Quotes of the Week

Gossip Girl
Nate: "You know it's love when you start talking like an assassin."

Greek
Cappie: "I love drama! Remember when Locke opened the hatch? Finally!"

Prison Break
Link: "Get back to your nerd box and do your job."

I'M SO HAPPY FALL TV IS BACK.

quick review of this weeks TV you ask for?

OK...

OTH is getting a little bit too dark for me. And corny. They are pressing too much drama...maybe 6 seasons is too long. The premiere was great but the second episode left me wishing for more substance. And annoyed by all the BAD.

Prison Break was terrible last season but I said, "they're bringing Sarah back...I'll give it another shot." Nope. Bad idea. I think Prison Break and I may finally have to break up here soon...but it's so hard to leave Wentworth...
And they do always have at least one witty one liner per episode.

Sarah Conner Chronicles was still just OK. but I will keep hoping because every once in a while they get me with a good one.

I haven't had a chance to watch Fringe yet but it is DVR'd and josh jackson is anxiously awaiting me.

Privileged= bad. bad bad bad. Don't think it will make it.

90210 got me. I like. But WOW did Brenda not age well. Did the gap between her teeth get bigger? Yet Kelly still looks great. And ooo do I <3 that Dustin Milligan.

Gossip Girl was good as always. Love that Nate is selling his body for money to help his mom. And Dan and Serena sex on a bus. That's classy.

And has anyone else had a chance to see HBO's new series True Blood? I'm not sure how I feel about it. The plot seems an awful lot like Twilight, but in the deep south *eek* with a really annoying lead actress. I'm not sold on it yet.

Halloween Costumes for my Pets!

I made the mistake of walking down the pet aisle in Target tonight. They had pet halloween costumes! I decided that I had to have some. I then came home and promptly tried to put them on all of my pets...it did not work so well. Good thing I have 2 months to get them use to it!

Phillip...

Those are Devil's wings first and then he's a pumpkin!

Bella...

not so happy spider

then she wouldn't let me get the whole thing off!

and Coley...tehehe

Spider again!

I Think I Found My Newest Tattoo!!

I have wanted a new tattoo for a while but I didn't know what I wanted or where I wanted to get it. Then I found inspiration! I still haven't figured out the where (well I have but my better judgement tells me not to get one there) but I figured out the WHAT!

First, I would like to start off by saying that I like symbol tattoos that are all black. This is evidenced by the two I already have...

This tattoo is on my hip. It means happiness in kanji. This is the first one I got when I was nineteen.

This one I got right before I left for NC with my best friend Ash. We both got tats on the back of our necks, although different symbols. Mine is a Pisces symbol.

And this is the design of the one that I want to get now! I will tell you where I got my inspiration for it...but you have to promise not to laugh.

It's from Supernatural (the TV show). It is the tattoo Sam and Dean (the characters in the show) got to protect them from evil. The pentagram in the middle is a plaited pentagram which has been a protective sign against evil powers originating from the Western world and Japan.

So now it leaves me with the dilemma of WHERE to get it. I really want to get it on my wrist but that is always an issue when it come to job hunting, which is why I have not gotten one there yet. Otherwise, I would have one there already. So now I sit to ponder where to get it..and save up money for it!

The Last Of My School Days

I am about to start my 3rd week of my FINAL semester of college! I am excited that it is almost over...but also sad because that means it is almost time to find a real job. This semester seems pretty easy so far. I only have classes on Monday and Wednesday from 1230 to 445. Cake schedule.

I am taking 3 classes, 2 MIS classes and the final "capstone" class for all business majors, MGT 455. I am dreading 455 the most because it has lots of group projects and management MIGHT be the most boring topic in the world. My 2 MIS classes are both going to be easy. One is the prerequisite of a class I already took, so that will be easy and the other is a sophomore class that I never got around to taking so it will be easier than everything I have been doing for the last 2 years.

I have been at UNCW since 2006 so by now I know most of the people and teachers in my major. It makes the semester easier by knowing the lay of the land so well by now.

I can't wait for it to be over, and it should go by fast!

Fall TV is Coming! Fall TV is Coming!

I CAN NOT WAIT til Fall TV comes back! And it is getting sooo close!

I pretty much hate summer TV (except Weeds and USA's Monk, Psych, In Plain Sight and Burn Notice), since I am not one for reality TV. The closest I come to watching reality TV is MTV's The Real World and The Hills, which I know is the worst of all but I have been watching them forever. I enjoy scripted TV so much more AND IT IS ALMOST HERE!!

Returning Favorites:

Greek (returns 8/26): ABC Family always surprises me at how openly and accurately they portray teenagers, college kids and attack legitimate issues. And although Greek is full of stupid fun it has some depth and emotion that is quite real.

Gossip Girl (9/1): Who doesn't love to watch beautiful people and RIDICULOUS drama??

One Tree Hill (9/1): Because I am a die-hard fan and I have seen most of the actors in real life. Plus it is fun recognizing different places around Wilmington.

Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles (9/8): Good Action, and who doesn't miss Brian Austin Green?

House (9/16): House is soo funny, and last season had some good shockers. But I miss Chase and Cameron! Love 13 though as an addition.

Supernatural (9/18): I LOVE JENSEN ACKLES. LOVE HIM. Plus the show is AWESOME. It's a horror movie every week and funny. Perfection.

Heroes (9/22): Because they promise it is going back to the awesomeness of season 1. Plus it's called Villains...and we all know how I like the bad people.

Brothers and Sisters (9/28): Ahhh the Walker drama. Plus a stellar cast.

Dexter (9/28): Serial Killer with a conscious you say? How amazing.

Pushing Daisies (10/1): Lee Pace touching dead people back to life makes a cute and quirky show.

Ghost Whisperer (10/3): Like the show, but what happened to Ned last season? The random growth spurt of like 7 years really still bothers me.

Also going to watch but not quite as excited about:

Prison Break (ohhh Wentworth), Grey's, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Private Practive, Dirty Sexy Money, CSI

New Show's that Have Potential:

90210 (9/2): Because I can't seem to stop myself.

Samurai Girl (9/5): 2 Words...Brendan Fehr (for those of you who don't know who that is...it's the guy who played Michael on Roswell...which was a show on the WB back in '99. Still love it)

Fringe (9/9): Joshua Jackson. Need I say more?

Priviledged (9/9): It's on the CW and I will give it a try, but I do not have much hope.

Valentine (9/21): Don't even know what it is but it's on my list...and yes, I have a list. Actually, it's an excel spread sheet. Gotta be organized for Fall TV.

Now, this may seem a little crazy and obsessive to some, but I really love my TV shows. I DVR everything, since I usually am working while they are on and watch them all before I go to bed. And I am still in college so I have more free time than most. Plus I am obsessed with HOT actors. Love to watch them.

Have I mentioned I CAN NOT WAIT!

Been bad about writing

Well, it has been a while since I wrote on here and lots has happened!

I went home to NY on vacation for 2 whole weeks! It was soo fun and relaxing. I enjoyed hanging out and having fun with no responsibilites for 2 full weeks.

My friend Tatum is currently unemployed so I had someone to hang out with during the days while everyone else was working which was awesome! My friend Jay, who currently lives in PA, also was home for part of the time I was so we hung out with him also. And that was just during the day time where we did a whole lot of nothing and eating and a lil bit of drinking.

The first Saturday night I was home I had dinner at Ashley's mom's house for her birthday. We had empanadas. They were yummy. Then we went to Tatum's for a Rockband party! Tatum, Tony, Zack, and I played while Ash and Joe mainly watched. We drank a bunch and had a good time. Made me miss all my buddies.

Then Sunday we went dress shopping for Tatums wedding...in October 2009. And yes, she is a little ahead of the game. We tried on a couple dresses and found one we all liked..i think. But we are waiting to order them until her 5th bridesmade will be in town to try it on. I am the worst weddingey person ever. I had my dress on for maybe 5 minutes and took it off as fast as possible. PLUS all of her bridesmades are a size 4 or smaller...and I am not. big boo. But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I was better behaved than Tatum thought I would be so i guess it was a win-win. Then her parents took all of us out to dinner for her birthday. We went to olive garden and it was yummy.

Thursday was Tatum's actual birthday and we spent the day at the track. The Saratoga Race Track is only open during the summer and it makes a fun day to go and bet on horses. We got there before the 2nd race and left after the 7th. No one really won any money, which is always kind of depressing. My friend Jay was super grouchy about losing and Ashley didn't really bet at all. I go always expecting to lose so that wasn't any real surprise.

Friday me and all my besties went camping. Tatum's parent's have a camper on a camp ground at Lake Bomoseen, VT and they weren't using it that weekend so 7 of us (me, tatum, ashley, joe, mike, zack and tony) went up to drink and chill. My dad babysat my dog for me so it was nice to have a Phillip free weekend for a change. We all had a really good time and got along all weekend so that was nice. I drank too much, played cards, and relaxed, i liked it. We came back Sunday afternoon.
(maybe i will write a more detailed blog about it later, cuz lots of fun happened I'm just to lazy to write it all out now.)

Then I read the newest book from the Twilight Series, Breaking Dawn! It is the 4th and final installment of the series and it was PERFECT. I couldn't have written a better ending myself. Now I just can't wait for the movie to come out in December!

I left the following Wednesday and drove the long 12 hour drive home.

I had a great time, and did lots of other fun stuff, like hanging out with my parents, going to the drive-ins, and being able to walk outside without sweltering. That was especially nice. Now that I live in the south, I HATE the heat. But when I'm in the north I hate the snow. Guess I just need to be retired and go back and forth during the appropriate seasons.

Being back to work sucks and having to go back to school soon sucks even more. But what can I do?

I caught up on some movies when I got home. Megan and I went to see Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2...which was good and The Pineapple Express...which was also awesome.

I am trying to make the most of the rest of my summer, going to the beach and hanging out. I have one week left then it is time for my last semester for a loooong time, maybe forever!

And I will try to be better about writing. Really.

I have a new obsession

TWILIGHT.

I saw movie trailers for a new movie that is coming out in December, called Twilight that was about vampires. It looked pretty good as I was investigating it further and i realized that it was based on a book by the same name. Websites were comparing it to the Harry Potter series so i ordered the 1st 3 books from the series from Amazon.

I read all 3 books (each around 600 pages) in 4 days. That's dedication. The general premise is a regular small town girl falls in love with a vampire. The fan base for these books is huge and dedicated, and I see why. I know the books are intended for teens but, like Harry Potter, it doesn't matter, they're still good.

Now I can't wait for the 4th book to come out (AUGUST 2ND)! Unfortunately I will be camping that weekend so I am making sure that I am back to CP Sunday before the book store closes so I can read it Sunday night and Monday before I drive home to Wilmy that Tuesday. MUST find out what happens before my 12 hour car ride!

I am always intrigued by movies/books/tv shows about the supernatural. Horror movies are my favorite. I wish it all was real! I am the last person to admit that anything supernatural could really be true (my mom is the master ghost believer and i think she's craaaaazy) but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be. I just want proof. Otherwise I think it is just people's creative story telling, like TWILIGHT!

Anyway, love twilight, love Edward Cullen (the vampire) and anyone who is easily amused by books technically meant for a teenage girls but have a huge fan base should read them and then we can talk.

Rock Band

I recently invested in Rock Band for my wii. It may be one of the best games ever. Now that I have had some time to practice, I would like to formally challenge anyone who may be near me, at any time, to play with me. I may kick your ass.

Seriously though, I <3 it.

The other night I had 2 friends from work come over and we played for 4.5 hours (til 4am if anyone is wondering). 32 songs and many drinks later we finally decided we had had enough when one friend was getting particularly bad at all instruments.

I am bringing it home with me when I come home (IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS) and expect many people to play and drink with me. Just a warning.

Cheers and Jeers

TV Guide does a section every week called 'Cheers & Jeers' which calls out things they like and dislike on TV the previous week. I decided I want to try it too.

Jeers to The Secret Life of the American Teenager for having a young couple say 'i love you' after one date. Although the show does have actors who ACTUALLY look like high school kids (which is rare to find), this early 'i love you' makes this show annoying and ridiculous. Those words should never be uttered by a 15-year-old. And for the over use and emphasis on the word Christian. I get it, they're religious. Let's move on.

Cheers to Weeds for being always amazing. Specifically this week, for juice boxes. Guillermo makes me laugh every time he opens his mouth, I hope he is on the show forever. Also, for Doug remembering that he has a son, who hasn't been mentioned since season 1. Thanks Weeds for making me feel like you remember your earlier seasons.
(side note: I just found out this week that the actor who plays Guillermo (name in real life: Guillermo) is gay. I was amazed. He plays a bad-ass drug dealer, the least likely person to be gay. Never in a million years would I have guessed, go Guillermo for being an amazing actor. I asked him to be my friend on myspace, that's how much I <3 him)

Cheers to Burn Notice for being funnier than i remember. The chemistry between Fiona and Michael was better than last season also. Although slightly predictable, a genuinely fun and interesting show.

Jeers to Jon and Kate plus 8 for Kate being such a bitch. She tries to take all the fun out of everything the kids try to do with her anal micro-managing. They went to make cupcakes this week and she was high-strung and obsessed with messes the whole time. LET THE KIDS HAVE FUN! And she is so mean to Jon, who seems like he tries to do just that, have fun. If only there was a button to mute only her.

And lastly,

Cheers to Secret Diary of a Call Girl for showing us that hookers have emotions and how to make a man your bitch, literally. I wasn't too sure about the show at first, but it has grown on me. I really like the main character, and the show is smart, funny and provocative.

I wanna be an assassin

I just saw WANTED, the new James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie movie, and I think being an assassin might be my calling in life.

Seriously though, I thought the movie was really good. Lots of action, humor and a hott boy. How can it get any better? Even though I hold a deep hatred of Angelina (still team Jen all the way) the movie was good enough that i could ignore her.

If you like lots of fighting and cool special effects gun fights, go see it.

And how do I learn how to fight like that? Can someone please bring me to the textile factory and teach me to be a badass?

Who's ready for vacation? I'm ready for vacation.

After enjoying a BEAUTIFUL day at the beach here in wilmington on Sunday, i am prepared for a nice week of beaching it up in OBX with the fam. I am already sunburned, so i can check that off of the list, but there are many other things still left to do.

1. Play mariokart with Ashley (and anyone else who would like to join in though i doubt there will be)
2. Drink heavily, without vomiting
3. Play killer bunnies and other games i forgot since last year with my 3 favorite cousins and aunt
4. Go out to the delicious Rundown Cafe and eat some Big Wave Dave's on my dad's dime (thanks dad! you know im broke!)
5. Watch WEEDS with Ashley while other people sleep
6. Ask Alyse over and over if she would like to go in the ocean (maybe her answer will change since last year)
7. Eat a TON of delicious Chuck food. Deep fried pickle anyone?
8. Rollerblade, without falling, with Ashley
9. Body surfing with Brett

There is more to do, most of it involving relaxing.

I am especially excited that classes will be over come this Thursday, then vacation.

Can't Wait.

Friday, June 6, 2008

I just broke myself.

I had a genius new plan to get some exercise.

get some rollerblades, learn to rollerblade with my dog. That way he gets to run and i get to rollerblade, which I loved to do when I was younger.

I started off rollerblading in the tennis courts of my apartment complex with Phillip so he could get use to me being on wheels. It went pretty well so today I decided to try rollerblading around my apartment complex.

I waited until 7ish so there were few cars to get in our way. We started off well, he was jogging, I was blading...then there was a downhill part of the neighborhood. With a speed bump.

I fell down BOOM on my back. Knocked the wind right out of me. Haven't done that since I was a kid either. Phillip just got scared but satyed with me. We then defeatedly walked/half-ass bladed back to my apartment.

My back is KILLING me. I took lots of motrin and am laying on a heating pad in bed.

I'm not totally discouraged, but no more rollerblading in my complex.

Movie of the Week

Anyone who knows me knows i watch a TON of movies. Thanks Blockbuster. I get 5 free rentals a week from work and i get the movies the week before they come out. I usually have at least one movie every week that I am newly obsessed with. My obsession fades then when i get a new favorite (or 2).

Well, this week I <3 Watching the Detectives. Its a smaller movie, with Cillian Murphy (love those blue eyes) and Lucy Liu. Its fun, light hearted, and I think its hilarious. I am watching it for the 2nd time and still find myself laughing at things. I do think, however, that I may be prone to liking it becuase Cillian's character owns a small, quirky video store, where all of his friends work and hang out, watching movies and talking about them. Slightly similar to what I do at work, except I work at a huge mind-numbing, chain, but the people I work with are awesome nonetheless.

The movie is my kind of humor and Lucy Liu plays a fun, crazy girl who likes to get all the adventure out of life that she can. I love it. The things she does for fun are awesome. I wish I was her.

I don't think this film is for everyone. As i have learned from working at a video store, very few have the same taste for movies that I do.

Sitting in class doing absolutely nothing

I am taking 2 summer classes, both of them are electives for my major. The classes are only 4 weeks long (4 hours a day, monday-thursday) so I thought it wouldn't be that bad. My first class isn't, its web design and it is easy and fun. I enjoy working on the projects and the 2 hour class flys by. The second class....

is not so fun. Its a networking class, which wouldn't be so bad, except my partner sucks. Actually hes ridicoulously computer savy, which makes the class SO annoying for me. I'm pretty sure he knows more than the teacher and feels the need to show off that knowledge ALL THE TIME. He has little-to-no social skills which makes him difficult to deal with on a personal level. He does all the projects ahead of time and I have learned nothing, and the class is half over.

Today he finished the project before class even started and now I'm just sitting here doing nothing. It annoys the crap out of me and I would not mind the class except we do have 2 tests, and i have not learned a damn thing for those tests. Oh well. I'm going home to play with my dog.

Not sure about this...

Do i want to start blogging? Not so sure, don't really have anything to say but maybe i will some time? hmm
